Walking the distance is a way to steadily up your fitness, burn calories and get the mental health benefits of time spent outdoors, without massively exerting yourself.
Mile: A mile is 1.61 kilometers or 5280 feet. It takes 14 to 20 minutes to walk 1 mile at a moderate pace.
This is further naturally dependent on age, so ‘normal’ for a 20-28 year old is around 14-15 minutes, while average for a 40-49 year old gets to 15-16 minutes.
How to add a one mile walk into your day routine?
Adding a one mile walk into the fitness mix comes with mental and physical benefits – and it’s relatively easy to sprinkle into your day:
- Waking up 15 minutes earlier and taking yourself around your block a few times.
- If you drive to work, figure out somewhere to park your car a little further away, so that you can walk the final mile in.
- Get off the bus or tube a few stops early, and get a 15 minute walk in.
- Walk to your next fitness class, rather than driving or taking public transport
P.S : Daily walk is very helpful for everyday routine, we all should adapt this in our lives.
